I recently retired (1/10/25) and was looking for a new challenge. I’ve always been drawn to languages because I love travelling and I’m curious by nature. In the past, I also studied Spanish. I really enjoy being able to express myself in the local language when I travel and find it important to understand the people.
By now, I can introduce myself, have a small conversation when meeting someone, reserve a table, go to the shop or market, name different greetings and fruits, conjugate the most common verbs in the present tense and use articles correctly.
I don’t need any specific motivation: I now have the time and space, both physically and mentally, to learn new things. We also have a great class group and a fun, enthusiastic teacher.
I live in Sterrebeek and the Tervuren location is nearby, without traffic, easy to park, and the classrooms are new and pleasant. The teacher varies the lessons a lot and the three hours fly by. We also get many opportunities to talk to each other.
I can only recommend this course to anyone who loves travelling and learning new things. Don’t let your age stop you: there are participants of all ages. The level is very manageable without much extra study at home. You pay per trimester; if it’s not for you, you can simply stop in February.
